The QLS Conference

On January the 21st, E.L.C. teachers attended a conference organized by the president of the QLS organization; Mrs Christina. The conference was thematic and dealt with the fact that as technology advances, it becomes an issue that has to be absorbed by the ever ready & well-informed teacher. In other words well-respected educators in their own individual fields presented their thesis on technology and teaching. Most advocated on behalf of technology, its value and its uses in teaching as we tend to teach more and more tech-literate children. These children, born in the era of information (and Google), tend to have different comprehension mechanisms; which we, as teachers, have to decode, fathom and trigger. That said, other speakers reminded us of the beauty of teaching, and the responsibility that we have as teachers towards our pupils. Reminding us that we shouldn't lose our touch with what we love, over the technological leaps in education, but rather manage to maintain the balance.

QLS Mother's Conference 2010

Mothers from ELC Anifadis attended this conference about  bringing up children and supporting them through learning processes. The conference took place at a hotel in Eretria and was a great success. Mothers came from all over Greece to listen to the highly regarded speakers. Here are some photos of the two-day event.

QLS Conference

Last Saturday, some students from the ELC school attended the QLS student conference at the Planetarium. The theme of the confrence was using the internet. The students heard talks on this from guest speakers, watched other schools give presentations, gave their own presentation and took part in a competition.

Our school's presentation showed two different sides to meeting people on the internet: one half was based on the film 'You've Got Mail' and was a romance about love over the internet, and the other half was a warning about the dangers of meeting people on the internet. The presentation involved acting and dancing and was very well received.
The conference was a success and all the students enjoyed it. Here are some of the photos.

ELC had high up seats and a good view.

Everybody together.

There will be another conference next year if you missed out.
